High Lander, a global provider of UAS traffic management (UTM) and drone fleet management (DFM) solutions, has signed a partnership with Dimetor, a Vienna-based leader in telecommunications technology for aviation services. The collaboration will see Dimetor’s proprietary technology integrated into High Lander’s Vega Hub suite of services.

Specifically, the Vega UTM interface will be enhanced by advanced cellular connectivity and population density displays, providing airspace managers and drone operators with data critical to the success, safety and compliance of their missions.

Dimetor’s AirborneRF solution is a proprietary altitude-based form of cellular signal analysis. Mobile networks are typically designed to focus on ground-level devices, but Dimetor’s technology creates layered coverage maps considering factors such as antenna tilt, elevation and overlapping cellular footprints. It creates a 3D radio space within which connectivity is most likely to be strongest, enabling operators to gauge the most effective spatial parameters for any given mission. As unbroken cellular connectivity is central to the effective operation and compliance of beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) flights, this capability will strengthen the connection between UAS stakeholders and mobile network operators, and consequently allow for speedy regulatory approvals. Meanwhile, Dimetor’s ground risk feature uses anonymized tracking data to provide real-time population density maps. Airspace regulations tend to restrict UAS operations over populated areas, so access to up-to-date data on the location and movement of people will be a further boost to regulatory go-aheads.

“Connectivity and conspicuity are central to effective UAS operations and airspace management. That’s why we’ve partnered with Dimetor, a company renowned for its dedication to providing cutting-edge data and connectivity solutions to the aviation industry,” said Alon Abelson, CEO and founder of High Lander. “With Dimetor’s groundbreaking data feeds seamlessly integrated into Vega UTM, airspace managers and UAS operators will be able to make better informed operational decisions. This partnership reflects the importance of strong connections between UAS service providers and connectivity specialists within the aviation industry, and we’re proud to have partnered with a global leader.”

High Lander’s Vega UTM is an end-to-end airspace management platform for UAS. Key features include live airspace traffic data from diverse sources, autonomous strategic and tactical deconfliction, smart NOTAMS, weather advisories and a streamlined app for drone operators to submit flight plans for approval. It can also be integrated with supporting solutions like counter-UAS systems, sensor and radar arrays. Vega UTM is in active operation for clients worldwide and continues to play a key role in a number of key UTM projects and official UAS technology sandboxes.

“Our mission at Dimetor is to facilitate the growth of unmanned aviation by providing a connection between airspace stakeholders and the telecommunications infrastructure they rely on to operate safely and at scale,” said Thomas Neubauer, CEO of Dimetor. “This goal is in perfect alignment with High Lander, a company whose airspace management solutions lead the way in efficiency and safety. The integration of Dimetor data and safety mechanisms into High Lander’s airspace management platform will create a new standard in digital infrastructure, and we’re excited to see these new capabilities showcased in territories and projects around the world.”
